Elves, Vulcans and Angels – all the same?? Random thoughts:

As an aspiring otherkin (someone who “thinks” he might be an elf)  I’ve been thinking about the different entities presented in various sci-fi and fantasy novels.  I know for example that Tolkien modeled his elves after angels (Tolkien was a noted Catholic and even helped translate The Jerusalem Bible).

We also know that angels did not originate with Judaism, but were around (under various names) for several thousand years before Moses. They are actually Pagan in origin.  Also, they didn’t acquire wings until after the Hebrews returned from Babylon (where the Babylonian deities all had wings).

Now the Vulcans (of Star Trek) have a variety of elfen and angelic characteristics, and even seem to be very Druid like.

When I first read Stranger In A Strange Land (at age 15), I imagined myself to be another like Michael – an Archangel visiting Earth on a special mission.

I used to write poetry under the name “Gabriel.”

Lately, when seeing myself in the mirror accidentally (like in a peripheral gaze) I’ve seen pointed ears.  They go away when I look directly at the mirror though.

I guess I’ve always been attracted to entities with pointed ears. 🙂
